Make A Doll Advent Calendar!

Make A Doll Advent Calendar!

This little project is so easy to make and a very personal gift itself for Advent.

For this project you will need:
Either a doll coat hanger or some garden wire like I have used (£1.75/ $2.5)
Pliers to cut the wire
1 ribbon to decorate the coat hanger approx 1.5yards
24 ribbons to hang the pressies
24 glue dots to attach the pressie to the ribbon
24 sweets/gifts (in wrapping paper)
2 baubles to decorate
24 paper/ stickers to write numbers on
1 tag for words " Advent Calendar"
Pen

Then I hung a bauble on ribbon at each side of the coat hanger to give added decoration so that on Christmas Eve there would still be something attractive to look at.
I knotted ribbon round the coat hanger and then added a glue dot to the top of the gift and attached it to the bottom of the ribbon.  Sometimes I knotted the ribbon leaving 2 pieces either side of the knot so that gifts could be hung off both ends.  Gifts can be hung at differing heights.

The gifts I have used range from sweets and chocolates to little wrapped surprises and even a few unwrapped gifts, to add variety.  Then washi tape circles (you could use circles of paper or stickers) were fixed onto the items with numbers ranging from 1-24 representing a gift for every day of Advent.  Finally I used the loose end of ribbon at the neck of the hanger to thread through (and tie) a plain red gift tag on which I had written the words "Advent Calendar".

The garden wire is maleable enough to bend between your fingers to get the shape of a coat hanger.  I made it to measure approx 8" wide.  I started by making a hook and then worked downwards into the coat hanger shape. To finish I twisted the wire back into the hook and cut with pliers.  The double thickness of twisted wire is good for reinforcing the hook so that it can hold the 24 gifts.

Then I took approximately 1.5 yards of decorative ribbon and starting wrapping it round the hook first and then the hanger until it was competely covered.  The place I finished at was the neck of the hanger where I made a bow out of the continuous length.
