A new feature of the My Doll Best Friend online #doll shop, which specialises in standing and jointed vinyl play #dolls from around the world, is the instant download PDF doll clothes #patterns.
We launched the feature at the beginning of June with two free patterns: Gracie Cardigan
, which is a pattern for a doll's knitted cardigan and will fit most 18" dolls and, Posie Pink Skirt
, a simple skirt sewing pattern, again for the 18" dolls. What we really like about these two patterns is how easily they can be adapted to fit other dolls.
There have been some great interpretations of the simple Gracie knitwear pattern that we've seen on Facebook
and we know many of you have knitted the pattern more than once and using different types of yarn with great results.
However one interpretation is particularly impressive as it has transformed the basic pattern into a fabulous twin set. The credit goes to Jutta
as this is her knitwear.
Gotz Happy Kidz Sophie from 2012 is modelling the twin set she has created.
The sleeves have been lengthened on the cardigan. The stitches were left on a stitch holder until the cardigan had been knitted completely and then the sleeves were knitted in the round on 5 needles to make it seamless.
For the short sleeved top underneath the cardigan the same pattern was used but one more button was added and the work was turned round to fit Sophie, with the buttons at the back.
Six stitches at the edges were knitted together, which is much easier to do if you knit with a circular knitting needle.
I think this is absolutely fantastic as an interpretation of the original pattern, well done Jutta! Thank you too for sharing your ideas with us all.
There are lots of doll clothes patterns in the pipeline at My Doll Best Friend for the Kidz n Cats dolls, Gotz dolls, Maru & Friends dolls and American Girl dolls so be sure to follow this blog by email for news on the patterns arriving soon!
We'd love to see your Gracie cardigan so please do send it to me for the Gallery
