Schildkrot Dolls was established in 1896, the successor of the earlier 'Gummi and Celluloid Factory' which began in 1873. It took its name 'Schildkrot' meaning turtle, after the new hard plastic that had become available replacing porcelain, called celluloid. Modern and pioneering at the time, Schildkrot has survived with its turtle logo intact, but today its charm is in the traditional. Traditional artist dolls with armature for limb movement. Sweet, charming baby dolls with innocent faces. Dolls are made in Germany, making Schildkrot the oldest doll manufacturer in Germany, and a true treasure for all.
