Schildkrot

At Schildkrot, the traditional craftsmanship of doll making has been passed down the generations since 1896. It still operates on the site of the earlier 'Gummi and Celluloid Factory' which began in 1873. It took its name 'Schildkrot' meaning turtle, after the new hard plastic that had become available replacing porcelain, called celluloid. Modern and pioneering at the time, Schildkrot has survived with its turtle logo intact, but today its charm is in the traditional. Traditional artist dolls with armature for limb movement. Sweet, charming baby dolls with innocent faces. Dolls are made in Germany, making Schildkrot the oldest doll manufacturer in Germany, and a true treasure for all.
