One of the most eagerly awaited doll brands each year is Kidz ‘n’ Cats, and boy do they make us wait! A quick update for those interested is that we now have all the 2016 stock!!!
It was a pleasure to see the brand again at the Nuremberg Toy Fair, and it was a good opportunity to ask lots of questions. To catch you up if you’re new to Kidz ‘n’ Cats – Kidz ‘n’ Cats dolls are sculpted by artist Sonja Hartmann and her highly successful company, With Heart & Soul, was offered for sale to German company Hape, in early 2016.
The manufacture of Kidz ‘n’ Cats under Hape has enabled investment in the brand which ensures the future of doll production. For example, last year Hape created new doll production moulds from existing mother moulds so that the new dolls have fabulous vinyl faces and bodies. The small Kidz ‘n’ Cats team suddenly had lots of new colleagues to work with in Germany and China, so there was some settling in to do. The team quickly learned that a short(er) chain of command improves production time and reduces errors, so in 2017 we see Kidz ‘n’ Cats under Hape back making decisions at the production level, which wasn’t the case in 2016. This will certainly continue until all wrinkles have been ironed out.
Hape has created new packaging with blister pack backing to keep the doll legs straight in transit and actioned a customers request – for Kidz ‘n’ Cats dolls to be made with a new paler vinyl colour. Customers’ feedback is that they are delighted with the Kidz ‘n’ Cats dolls they’ve received from My Doll Best Friend already in 2017. Our pre-order list is strong for the 2017 dolls due out in July – July– didn’t I tell you they make us wait!
You’re very welcome to browse all our Kidz ‘n’ Cats photos from the Nuremberg Toy Fair 2017 and our Kidz ‘n’ Cats film.
With the exception of the 2017 dolls and Grace, all Kidz ‘n’ Cats dolls are in stock.
Here are the dolls we’re looking forward to later in the year:
How remiss of me, I talked only about the dolls coming in July, and forgot to tell you about the cat which makes up half the brand’s title!
One question I did ask of Kidz ‘n’ Cats at the toy fair was, were we looking at the actual production dolls. I was told yes we were looking at everything as it would be in production, except the cat.
